How Do You Install a Cat Door in an Interior Door

- Measure your pet’s height, making sure that the top of the door is at least 1” above their shoulders. Mark your pet’s height on the door.
- Remove your pet door from its packaging.
- Match the template that comes with your pet door with the height mark on your door. Tape the template to the door and trace the outline. Remove the template.
- Drill holes in each corner of the outline. Use a jigsaw to cut out the holes, starting at one corner and following the lines.
- Check to see that your pet door fits by placing the pet door frame inside the cutout. If it doesn’t fit, trim the opening until it does. Be careful not to overcut.
- Install your pet door according to the manufacturer’s instructions. This will be different for every pet door.
- Test that your door works by having your pet walk through it.
