The Ideal Fast Fit Patio Pet Door from Ideal Pet Products is a cost-effective panel with an aluminum frame and built-in pet door that fits right into the track of your aluminum or vinyl (may require shimming depending on your slider design) sliding glass door. With a tool-free installation, this sliding door dog door insert is the perfect choice for rentals and vacation homes, as well as for people who want to avoid making permanent alterations to their sliders. The lightweight, single-pane glass and spring-loaded design make for easy installation and removal. The clear vinyl flap is lightweight and comfortable to use, allowing both dogs and cats to go in and out with ease.

Please read instructions & notes thoroughly before installation.
Step 1 Release Height Adjustment Panel
- Release the automatic height adjustment by turning the knobs located near the top of panel counter-clockwise and pressing. The height adjustment panel should fully extend upward (pull up on panel if necessary).
Step 2 Open Your Door
- Open the sliding glass/screen door.
Step 3 Insert Into Track
- Insert the Fast Fit with the knobs facing inside. Place the top edge into the top track of the sliding glass/screen door. Lift up and swing the lower portion of the panel onto the ridge in the sliding glass door (or screen door).
Step 4 Tighten Into Place
- Slide the Fast Fit against the door jamb. Make sure that top is fully extended (not tilted to one side) and the bottom of the panel is on the ridge in the bottom track.
- Hand-tighten the knobs by turning clockwise to lock the Fast Fit in place.
- Apply the bumper seal along the length of the panel where it meets the sliding glass door when closed. Press firmly against the panel rolling it up to the top, where you can cut the end with scissors.
Step 5 Permanent Installation (Optional)
- If you would like to permanently install your panel pet door, you may screw through the aluminum fins that protrude on the existing sliding glass door frame of your door. Drill through the fins into the Fast Fit. Install two screws in the top and two in the side by the bottom of door.
Optional Permanent Placement for Fixed Panel Sliding Door:
Remove the screws that hold the fixed glass panel in place and slide it over. Insert the Fast Fit panel between the stationary panel and it's jamb. Re-fasten the fixed glass panel.
Installing Security Lock (Optional):
Step 1: With the sliding door in a closed position, place the lock in the desired location with the bolt in the retracted position, pointed toward the sliding glass door or stationary window rail. Leave clearance between the bolt tip and the aluminum rail.
Step 2: Holding the lock firmly in place, mark the screw holes and center of the bolt in the rail of the sliding door or stationary window.
Step 3: Drill two 5⁄32" holes for the mounting screws and a hole for the locking bolt. Do not drill into glass.
Step 4: With the sliding door in the closed position (with Fast Fit installed), mark the position for the second set of holes.
Caution: Do not drill into glass.

Can this be used with vinyl sliding glass doors? Generally, yes. The big difference between the two types of sliding glass doors is the thickness or width of the track. As long as your track is at least 7/8" wide, this can fit your patio door. If you have a taller sliding glass door, we recommend that you either add shims or toenail the panel in for added stability. If you have concerns, you can email our Customer Service team with some photos of your track, and we can let you know. |

Do the Ideal Fast Fit Pet Doors for sliding doors require tools for installation? The patio pet door insert doesn't. It is meant to be fairly easy to install, so you can take it out if needed. However, you will need tools if you want to install the locking mechanism, as it requires drilling holes into the frame of your slider. You can avoid this by locking your slider against the panel using a Charley Bar or dowel in the track. |

Will I still be able to use my sliding glass door lock after it is installed? The Fast Fit panels will not be able to lock into an existing slider door, as there are so many types of door locks they cannot mate with the dog door insert. This door includes a pin lock or you can go with a dowel in the track or Charley Bar. |

Will I still be able to use my sliding glass door after it is installed? When the pet door is installed, you will lose some space to walk through. To make sure that you have enough room, we recommend that you check the overall width of the size that you want, especially when purchasing this panel in the super-large flap size. Will this work for large and small pets sharing? Yes. The flaps are light enough for small pets to push. We recommend a custom lower step-over height to make it easier for the shorter pet to use. The flap should also be large enough for the tallest pet to use without bending down. |

How does this door hold up in the winter? The flap will likely blow open with mild wind since this is a more economical doggy door. When more extreme weather occurs, we recommend that you place your locking cover over the pet door or remove the panel. |

Can I use a different, more wind resistant flap with this? Unfortunately, flaps are not interchangeable between pet doors. Panels also do not offer double flaps. In order to get a more wind resistant flap, you would need to get a more energy efficient unit. |

Does the Ideal Fast Fit Panel have an adjustable step-over? No, the Fast Fit does not have an adjustable step over. You can get a custom step-over. Keep in mind that the custom step over cannot be adjusted once built, and it does make the item non-returnable. |

Can I purchase the flap and frame together for my Ideal Fast Fit panel? Yes, the Ideal Fast Fit Flap and Frame Assembly is available for purchase. Please make sure you are ordering the correct logo for your specific panel. If you no longer have the original flap, you can figure out what logo you have a couple of other ways. You can measure the entire width of the panel, as these measurements changed when the manufacturing location did. Another option is to unscrew the frame from the patio panel. If it's one piece that screws directly into the sides of the aluminum frame, it's an old-style rectangular logo. If the frame is two pieces that screw into each other (not the metal panel directly), then it is a new-style round logo. If you still have the original flap (plastic frame), you may be able to figure out which flap and frame you need by looking at this page. |

What if I am at the top of the adjustment range? Ideal does offer a height extension, but you can also make up for slight height issue by sliding a piece of wood in the top channel that is cut to size. This should give the panel enough tension at the top to hold it in place. |

What if I am at the bottom of the adjustment range? You can actually trim up to 3/4" off the spring load at the top. It is 1/8" in thickness. This is done with a jigsaw using a metal cutting blade. |

Great Design
I like the quality of everything. Very easy to install. The bottom step up was too high for my dog with shorter legs. The bottom was two panels. I was able to unscrew the sides. You are left with a slide on each side. Take out the two panels and the doggie door part, slide the first panel in, slide the doggie door in, slide the second panel in, and then screw it back together. Now it’s the perfect height.

Will this work for large and small pets sharing? Yes. The flaps are light enough for small pets to push. We recommend a custom lower step-over height to make it easier for the shorter pet to use. The flap should also be large enough for the tallest pet to use without bending down. |

How does this door hold up in the winter? The flap will likely blow open with mild wind since this is a more economical doggy door. When more extreme weather occurs, we recommend that you place your locking cover over the pet door or remove the panel. |

Can I use a different, more wind resistant flap with this? Unfortunately, flaps are not interchangeable between pet doors. Panels also do not offer double flaps. In order to get a more wind resistant flap, you would need to get a more energy efficient unit. |

Does the Ideal Fast Fit Panel have an adjustable step-over? No, the Fast Fit does not have an adjustable step over. You can get a custom step-over. Keep in mind that the custom step over cannot be adjusted once built, and it does make the item non-returnable. |

Can I purchase the flap and frame together for my Ideal Fast Fit panel? Yes, the Ideal Fast Fit Flap and Frame Assembly is available for purchase. Please make sure you are ordering the correct logo for your specific panel. If you no longer have the original flap, you can figure out what logo you have a couple of other ways. You can measure the entire width of the panel, as these measurements changed when the manufacturing location did. Another option is to unscrew the frame from the patio panel. If it's one piece that screws directly into the sides of the aluminum frame, it's an old-style rectangular logo. If the frame is two pieces that screw into each other (not the metal panel directly), then it is a new-style round logo. If you still have the original flap (plastic frame), you may be able to figure out which flap and frame you need by looking at this page. |

What if I am at the top of the adjustment range? Ideal does offer a height extension, but you can also make up for slight height issue by sliding a piece of wood in the top channel that is cut to size. This should give the panel enough tension at the top to hold it in place. |

What if I am at the bottom of the adjustment range? You can actually trim up to 3/4" off the spring load at the top. It is 1/8" in thickness. This is done with a jigsaw using a metal cutting blade. |

Great Design
I like the quality of everything. Very easy to install. The bottom step up was too high for my dog with shorter legs. The bottom was two panels. I was able to unscrew the sides. You are left with a slide on each side. Take out the two panels and the doggie door part, slide the first panel in, slide the doggie door in, slide the second panel in, and then screw it back together. Now it’s the perfect height.
